MYOB has increased their Annual Maintenance charges by 20% and want to charge even more for Support – Have your say by completing a survey from NZ Payrollers.
MYOB currently charges the highest Annual Maintenance fees in New Zealand against comparable products. They justify this by saying they do ‘continuous development’ but the reality is they have done virtually no development over the past three years, they have only maintained their product to meet legislative changes.
In fact they have been busy downgrading their product and removing functionality that customers are using.
If you are a MYOB EXO Payroll customer then let us know what you think by completing our survey by clicking HERE!

We are pleased to announce a couple of staff changes here at Ezypay.
Kerry Cutler has been promoted to Team Leader and will look after allocating work and handling everything that Paula can’t.
Also, Julia Maelzer is joining the team from next week. She will work Tue to Thur and although she has limited payroll experience her attention to detail and her accuracy were the key factors in her employment.

We have just received the bill for Annual Maintenance for the MYOB Exo Payroll that we use and it has increased by $520.88 with no explanation other than:
we are committed to continuous development!
What a complete load of rubbish!
Development in my book involves the addition of new functionality to improve the product. MYOB have added no new functionality to the payroll since they purchased it from Comacc and the only changes have been around legislative tax changes, which they have to do in order to stay in the market.
In fact MYOB have started removing functionality that we, as a customer, used so the reality is the product is slowly been DOWNGRADED as we are getting less and less of a product, yet they seem fit to charge us more.
What do you think? Do you think you are getting value for money from MYOB especially considering the Maintenance fee does not even cover support?

Over the past few months we have been getting a number of clients coming to us from Datacom.
Each one had their own particular reason which I won’t go into but I would just like to thank Datacom for having excellent reports which makes the setup at our end so much more accurate than what we usually get.
Thanks Datacom.

For nearly ten years now we have been using the Comacc Payroll but since it was taken over by MYOB the whole thing is starting to deteriorate.
In their wisdom they have removed our ability to print to the lineflow payslips we have been using since we started and expect us now to buy their, much more expensive, A4 lineflow payslip. This has been a complete nightmare for us, and others, and is a huge waste of paper as now we have to use an A4 page whereas before it was about half the size.
Plus, las year we inherited a number of clients from the MYOB Bureau when they decided to close shop. A few were using the MYOB MyStaff Info (their Employee Kiosk) but this has been another nightmare for us. For something that is meant to be fully integrated it’s a joke. We also seem to have ongoing problems with the kiosk not writing back changes to the database. If anyone is after such a product then we suggest TimeFiler as it works the way it should do.
And the final straw is they have increased the Annual Maintenance fees!@@!@# For paying them a bundle of money we end up with a payroll that is deteriorating in quality………………so we are now on the hunt for a new solution to replace the MYOB one as we have had enough.

There always seems to be a lot of confusion over whether Easter Sunday is a Public Holiday and what your employees are entitled to be paid. Easter Sunday is NOT treated as a public holiday under the Holidays Act 2003 – Refer to the informative Department of Labour link below:
